Our History
Origins
The name Zero Cattle seems to strike a chord with people, and stir curiosity. I often wish that I had a great story for its origins. Many have speculated, and each suggestion seems more reasonable than the last, but none of them are the Real Truth.
Suggestions
- Because I am a vegetarian
- Because I live in an urban area
- That it's a take-off on the formerly very popular and well-known TUCOWS (which has fallen on some hard times of late)
- Bart Simpson -- “Don’t have a cow, man!”
- Because I have a reputation for being direct and honest
- Ironically in cattle penning competitions, 0 Cattle means you have failed to successfully pen the cows, so perhaps that’s not so wrong.
Copy Shots
It has also stimulated tag lines or copy shots that are quite “sticky”: No Bull Web Development and Step Away from the Herd.
So what's the truth?
It came in a dream. After months of sleepless nights with a new baby in the house, I began to dream. A lot. In the dream, I heard the words, 'zero cattle', and then the next night, I dreamt of the full logo (below).
I was helpless before the muses.

Why did I start up a web development company?
Out of a personal passion for the visual arts and marketing, I developed my own web site in 1996 and used it to learn and try out new technologies and art forms. I am an extremely visual person, who is blessed/cursed with an innate sense of organization and a brain that cannot not brainstorm. All my life I have looked for what I cannot *not* do, from writing to visual arts like photography, painting and fabric arts, but the fact is time and time again, I return to the computer.
Gradually people over the web started asking me to help, and then to develop their sites for their businesses and passions. By 1998 I was working full time on the web and moved to establish the business. No looking back, now!
With family and friends spread around the globe (from Japan back around to Australia), the web is fact in my life, and has been for years. With my personal history in the pretty things in life, my bizarre skill at 'filing', this obsession with things digital led me directly into your computer. Hi.
